Though best known for unstoppable funk jams like "Super Freak" and "Give It to Me, Baby," Rick James had an evident impact not only in chart stats, but in his artistic contributions as a composer and songwriter. 2012 marks the 30th anniversary of the King of Punk Funk’s classic album Throwin’ Down. The record combines hardcore funk with a sprinkling of soul ballads and won album of the year in the Rhythm & Blues Category in 1982.
